A Rhythmic Revelation

A Voice of the Banaras Gharana

Rooted in the revered Banaras Gharana and shaped by two decades of dedicated practice, Manmohan Dogra is one of the most compelling voices in Hindustani classical percussion today. His sound carries the lyrical expressiveness of Banaras Baaj — every dha, tun, and na rings with crystalline precision.

A disciple of SNA Pt. Vijay Shankar Mishra, he has further broadened his rhythmic palette through study of the Delhi and Ajrada Gharanas — one of the few artists today who fluently speaks the language of multiple tabla traditions.

Manmohan Dogra portrait
Playing the tabla is not just about mastering compositions but about developing a true sense of rhythm that can travel across traditions. Fusion is not about replacing one form with another; it is about blending them respectfully and finding a shared voice. — Manmohan Dogra
